2012 Angel Mounds Archaeology Field School

May 9 – June 20, 2012

The Angel Mounds Field School is offered during the Summer I session, which begins Wednesday May 9 and ends Wednesday June 20. Students do not need to be majors in Anthropology, or have any archaeological coursework or experience to take the class.  However, an introductory class in archaeology is recommended. Students will be trained in field excavation methodology and archaeological theory, and learn to identify Mississippian pottery, tools and other elements of material culture.  They will also participate in the public programs at Angel Mounds. Instruction will be given on equipment now commonly used in archaeology investigations, such as mapping, surveying, and geophysical instruments, and in pedology and geoarchaeology techniques.

Early Registration Deadline - April 15, 2012
