The 2009 MAC Annual Meeting will be held October
15-18th in Iowa City, Iowa jointly sponsored by the University of Iowa Office
of the State Archaeologist (OSA) and Museum of Natural History (MNH). Both OSA
and MNH are easy walking distance from the conference hotel. The preliminary
schedule of events includes:
Thursday afternoon/Friday and Saturday mornings and afternoons: papers,
symposia, and poster sessions at the conference hotel.
Thursday evening: reception at the MNH featuring a light buffet and cash
bar (pre-registration required) followed by an invited panel discussion open
to all conference attendees on an issue of special interest (watch this website*).
Friday morning and afternoon: Group tours (on the hour) of the OSA facility.
Saturday evening at the conference hotel: annual business meeting and award
ceremony followed by a cash bar then banquet dinner and speaker Dr. Patricia
Sutherland, Curator of Arctic Archaeology/Conservateur Archeologie de l'arctique
at the Canadian Museum of Civilization. Dr. Sutherland will speak on: "A
New Perspective on Native/Norse Contact in Arctic Canada."
Sunday: planning for several local archaeological site tour options is in
the works, details will be available on the registration forms and this website.
Registration:
Individuals: $70 for MAC members, $80 for non-members, $45 for students
There is a $10 late registration fee after September 15, 2009.
Single day registration (for non-members and students only): $25 per day.
